Keeping things cosy and woolly

Winter is finally here and its time to focus on some hobby projects! I've got a fair few on the go at the moment and been splitting my time across them. From a couple of crochet lovelies for a friend's first born to a hat for my dad. Since I've not posted in a while I wanted to give a little run down of each of these as a teaser for when they are completed.

A Hat of Green

A rather simple affair but it's coming along quite nicely. This green beanie had is a 2x2 rib for the rim followed by stockinette in double knit. It's a sock weight yarn so it's a pretty lightweight hat, hence going for double knit to give it a bit of body. Being sock weight and effectively doing twice as many stitches this one is taking a little longer than hoped to get the hat done. But I'm sure I can get to the end of it by Christmas!

A Lovely Pair

A friend welcomed their first born at the tail end of Autumn and I've had this idea to create little lovelies in the form of the parent's fursonas as a gift for the little one. These are essentially a cross between a teddy bear and a blanket and I'm hoping they turn out adorable. I've made some good progress on the dad so far and only really have the blanket part to go on him. The base of the head for the mum's character is almost done but at the point where I can start putting on the details. I am extremely excited to see how these guys turn out!

A Racing Scarf

Last on the list, uses the yarn in the picture above. Both hanks of West Yorkshire Spinner's Croft yarn and a project I started after I received a beautiful set of interchangeable knitting needles (you can see those sticking out of the balls of yarn) for my birthday in August. I've parked this project to make progress on the other two but the plan here is a chequered fade between the white yarn through to the purple and back again. Since its a scarf and I'm only doing it one sided I've opted to do some intarsia knitting for the first time on this. So far its going well and I'm itching to get back to it.

There are a couple of other small projects completed over the last month that I need to get posting, so hopefully I'll get those out before Christmas too!
